Earlayne Chance has been painting
for over thirty years and it shows. Earlayne Chance is a lecturer,
a juror, and a full time professional artist. Her primary medium
is oil, but she has expertise in many areas.
Chance's father was in the military and this
gave young Earlayne an opportunity to travel and take art lessons
and workshops through
museums abroad. She returned to the United States to attend college
at Southwest Texas and the University of Texas. Other studies
included classes with Ray Vinella and Kevin Macpherson of Taos,
New Mexico and Clyde Aspevig of Loveland, Colorado.
In 1994, Earlayne's work was chosen for an exhibition with the
Salmagundi Club in New York. Recently she was discovered by Ray
Greenberg Art Publishing who now produces her fine art prints
and distributes her work nationally.
"Everything around me inspires me", says Earlayne,
"Whether it is a garden, a field of bluebonnets, or a wildlife
scene that I am painting, I paint because I have to. It is what
I love to do." Expressionistic and vibrant, Chance's work
has a distinctive, romantic mood about it that is recognizable
from any point of view....a "misty" morning look that
beckons one to dream about lying in the bluebonnets or gazing
up to clouds above.
Chance captures most of her garden scenes on location while doing
small "field studies", then produces the larger works
from her studio southwest of Austin. Recently elected to associate
membership in the Oil Painters of America, Chance is also an
active member of the Texas Wild Bunch. She has exhibited in numerous
group and one - woman shows and hangs in several prestigious
permanent collections. And, in the midst of all this
activity, Earlayne still finds time to work on her book, "Painting
From the Heart".
