Charlotte L. Curry was born in 1950
in San Antonio, Texas, where during her formative years she developed
an intense appreciation for the surrounding rugged Texas Hill
Country.
Charlotte's love of the great outdoors
is reflected in her landscapes as she captures a moment in time
and mood through a mastery of light, shadow, and subtle nuances
of color. She works in oils, which she feels adds to the depth
and richness achieved in her paintings. To create a painting,
she will either paint on location, from sketches, combined reference
photos, or purely from her imagination.
Throughout her years of painting she has continued to challenge
her considerable skills and continues to strive for excellence.
Furthering her knowledge, she feels privileged to have been selected
to participate in eight workshops at the Cowboy Artists Of America
Museum. These include: William Moyers (2 times), Gary Carter,
James Boren, Robert Pummill (2 times), Jack Swanson, and the
C. A. 10 Workshop which included; James Boren, Gary Carter, Robert
Duncan, Fred Fellows, Bud Helbig, Dave Halbach, Gary Niblett,
Ken Riley, Gordon Snidow, and Melvin Warren. She has also taken
a number of workshops from Bob Wygant.
In 1986 Charlotte was honored to participate in the Third Annual
Show for selected Workshop participants at the Cowboy Artists
Of America Museum. Her works hang in private and Corporate Collections
across the country. She has won numerous awards in juried shows
and has been in a number of One-Woman and Group Shows.
Her art training began in Houston,
Texas under artist Bill Zaner. From there she began to travel
extensively throughout the Southwest, sketching, photographing,
and painting her way West.
