Happiness is reflected
in all of Betty Rhodes’ art, weather a painting of nature, a figure or a
seascape. Her unerring eye and imaginative approach evoke a warm and
wonderful feeling. Happy subjects and bright, fresh colors attract the
sophisticated art patron as well as the young collector. She has shown
extensively in Texas
and is represented in private collections throughout the United States.
“The First thing
people notice about my work is color. Whether I am painting floral,
landscapes or still life’s, color, value and contrast are the keys to
making painting work. That is what appeals to the viewer. I think I was born
with fine color sense and this has led to all the career choices I have
made…being an interior designer, owning a gallery and being an Oil painter.”
“I consider myself to
be a colorist and an impressionist. My work is more that just a copy of a
particular scene or still life. I bring what I feel about the scene and
attempt to interpret that in a painterly manner.”
“What attracts me most
are colorful fields of flowers or gardens…the hot pinks, purples, and
yellows against the cool greens. That’s’ what it’s all about to me.
Yummy! Wow, am I lucky!”
